UTI's A Bitch

Hey all, I'm still alive & kicking. Sorry for being so MIA, you can still catch me via my IG. Pretty much has changed since end of last year, but let's get to that another day & hope first half of 2017 has been kind to all of you.

And speaking of being kind and what not, I just want to take this time to talk about a very common problem in all of us babes. It doesn't matter your background, race, age (yes, this even affects kids), we just have to get real and know that there are just times when it's a pain in the a** to be a woman. Nope, not talking about pms (that's another lifelong chapter of hell), but on getting UTI. This is so common that at a point in a woman's lifetime, she will catch it at least once.

UTI, or Urinary Tract Infection - every woman has a lifetime risk, as high as 1 in every 2. So babes, you are not alone. For the first time, I experienced the worst feeling ever - at a point it felt like 🔥🔥 🔥 went through that tunnel, you know. Here are some ways I've tried, tho some worked and some not, but they're worth trying.

Cranberry Concentrate
Instead of the liquid that we often heard about, tablet works much faster and quicker as it is super encapsulated. Quite costly as a bottle like this easily cost RM82.10 (at a pharmacy that sells much cheaper than the regular pharmacy store). If compared to Hartamas, this would easily cost RM100/bottle. I was told to take two capsules in day and two at night for three weeks for it to work best, even though you don't feel the pain but as a preventive measure. 100 capsules/bottle. And read on to see why you shouldn't consume the regular cranberry juice carton box.

Antibiotics
I found out about this when I did my yearly body check up, and when the readings of urine test weren't perfect, Dr told me to wait and to come back when it started to hurt. All that and especially drinking water alone didn't work. Went back to the clinic to get some prescriptive antibiotics, but I had an allergy reaction so Dr switched to an alternative of higher dose (And further pumping of drugs into the body :( ) For this, it'll be best to check with your physician on the most suitable medication.

100% Pure Cranberry Juice

This was the first remedy I tried, and everyone must have read somewhere on the internet that you should go for cranberry juice when UTI hits. And cheap juice boxes, compared to this, OMG I'd just get diabetes. Pure cranberry juice is sour and zesty, and guess what? It cost a bomb (RM52.90) in Hartamas area (nearest to me at that point). Found out later that other pharmacies are selling RM10 cheaper - what a rip off! And the ahjumma buat bodoh by not giving me the change, although it's five cents but duit ok.

50ml x 3 times a day, and guess what? This bottle lasted only four days with the recommended dose. Ain't that just daylight robbery? So freaking expensive lah this vajay jay problem 😕😕

After 4 days, it didn't get any better. :(

Barley

How to make yourself pee more so you heal faster? Yes, cheap, healthy yet easy to make barley water. It did help a little (Was in and out of the toilet a lot), but I was still taking the cranberry tablets and on medication.

Water

Last but not least, always always drink up and make sure you stay hydrated. And it all above fail, time to visit your Dr again to get the needed prescription.

Ladies, here's to a healthy va-jay-jay & stay hydrated. XOXO, Oh So Aud.
