They don't call Koh Lipe - The Maldives of Asia for nothing. For those of you who are planning to travel to Koh Lipe, this lovely hidden gem island in Thailand, the only way to get into this island is through boat & ferry. Here are some guides of getting there from KL. Season's closing end of April, so you might be able to make it or wait for 2015.

Before you book your flight, check first availability of the ferry boat from Langkawi to Lipe because seats are easily filled up during peak season.
How to get there:
KL-->Lipe
1. Take morning flight: 10:00am Airasia from KL-->Langkawi
2. Take a taxi from Langkawi Airport-->Telaga Harbor (RM26/way)
3. Check in at Telaga Harbor about 12:00pm, wait for shuttle bus to Kuah Jetty Terminal (Bus included in ferry package & takes an hour to reach Kuah Jetty). Return ferry ticket costs RM248 for return trip and you get -RM10 with online booking.
4. Check in immigrations & board 2:30pm Ferry (2 hours ride)
5. Reach Koh Lipe island at about 3.30pm (Thai time)

Lipe-->KL
1. Check in at Immigrations at 1:30pm (Thai time). I picked the 4pm ferry ride so I could max out my time here. (2 hours ride back)
2. Reach Langkawi's Kuah Jetty at 6:50pm
3. Taxi-->Langkawi airport (About 30 mins ride & RM30/ride)
4. Catch 10:00pm Airasia flight back to KL

1. Once reaching Koh Lipe, you will need to take a speed boat to reach the islands. Wear slippers or flip flops cause you're gonna touch down on water & sand. Your passport will be collected at Kuah Jetty port, so head to Satun Immigrations Check Point to get it back.
2. Carry backpack. Unless you've booked the luxury villa or resorts that comes with pickup service.

3. For group travelers, 'tapao' cheap liquor and booze from Langkawi for your 'bonding' party.
4. For your trip back to KL: Book at least 3.00 hours later flight out of Langkawi from your ferry arrival time. Allow 10-15 minutes for disembark & another 30-45 mins taxi ride from Kuah Jetty to airport. Another 1+ hour for dinner & free duty shopping before boarding.
