Battle of the Desserts: Magnum Cafe vs. Milkcow at Midvalley & Gardens Mall

Sorry guys for the late post, so much has happened in the past month! Quit my job and much has happened since. Okay, this has been an overdue post especially for ice cream lovers like myself :D

Sweden vs. Korean. Magnum vs Milkcow. You'd have to be sakai if you've not heard about it in KL. Just #magnumcafe or #milkcow in instagram and you'll see what the hype is all about. If you're a dessert lover, don't give any excuse for not trying!

During my last days working at Midvalley, I had to try these two desert places.

Caution: Don't be surprised and queue like the rest. It's not that hard to find a Magnum cafe, just spot their crazy long queue especially during peak hours and even non-peak hours!

Blame it on the poorly-planned production line.

Before entering, you'll be asked two questions; Whether you're here for the make-my-magnum ice cream or dine/desert. You'll be placed in the long queue if you wana try out their magnum ice cream and be escorted upstairs for desert and food.

If you opt for the customized magnum, here's the process:

1. First you need to pick one of the two Magnum ice cream - chocolate brownie or vanilla. I picked the chocolate brownie ice cream.

2. Choose your dipping coat - white chocolate, mild chocolate and dark chocolate. I picked white chocolate.

3. Choose 3 toppings - my eyes were feasting on the crazy choices that they have - chilli flakes, rose petals and even pretzels! In the end I picked rose petals, frozen raspberries and pistachios.

4. Pick your drizzle - I chose dark chocolate and.......*drum roll*

Aud's Magnum Ice Cream!

Isn't she lovely? Visually attractive.....

In case you're curious about the layers or whether I was lying (joking bah)

For the "first time"  it's exciting and cool to customize your own magnum ice cream. But that's about it. RM9.90 for a magnum with toppings just don't cut it. I'd rather stick to the RM3.90 magnum ice cream anytime any day!

Milkcow

Okay, moving on to MilkCow. Anything Kpop sells well in Malaysia, so another K-desert brand like Milkcow will make everyone and anyone go crazy! Milkcow is known for their premium organic soft serve ice cream.

Not only do they have soft serve, but you can try their coffee and macaroons. But since you're here, you got to try any of the 11 soft serve menus! I'd recommend you to try the soft serve cause limited seats (about 10), just grab the ice cream to go and eat while you walk around the mall.

M2 - Milky Cube for RM13. Although soft serve size is about McD's sundae, but the taste is totally different! Pretty unique if you ask me, more over with fresh honeycomb! Just suck out the amazing thick honey and enjoy soft, milk and premium ice cream! Love the freshness of milk in their soft serve.

M8 - Golden Angel RM11 - White chocolate chips and white choc sauce over their awesome soft serve. Pretty sweet for my liking, but nothing beats great fresh soft serve on a hot day ey?

Personally, I'd go for Milkcow on any given day. Magnum? Buy it from your mini mart. Okay, until then, happy desert makan-ing peepz! Have a desert place you want me to try out? Just leave a comment below. :)
