Hong Kong, Hong Kong - A unique city/country known for its dim sum, seafood, luxury good shopping and convenient MTR. It's no wonder why travelers come back for more. There's so much to try and taste in Hong Kong, but here's a few of my must try food list in Hong Kong.
WHAT TO EAT
Kam Wah Cafe is just one street away from our AirBNB place. One thing about Hong Kong, it's easier to navigate if you're able to read Mandarin. Tho names can be googled, Shop signs are often in Mandarin characters, making it so difficult for bananas like us to go around.
Kam Wah, known for its signature Hongkee style coffee house. Their Polo Bun is really good, so you have to try it in different variety. We almost got lost in this area as all menu and signboards are in Mandarin. If you're unsure, screenshot photos of food you'll like to try from Google or have them recommended by kind friendly staff.
Just try spotting this sign when you're here. I tried the Polo Bun with BBQ Pork + Hot Yin Yong (combination of coffee & milk tea) combo for HKD38 - approx RM20 while my sis tried the pork chop melted cheese in curry instant noodle with cold milk tea. This is my first time having Polo Bun & this taste shall forever be locked in my taste memory. Crispy buttery top with juicy pork and fresh vegetable.
Sis tried the recommended pork chop melted cheese in curry instant noodle with cold milk tea for HKD50 - approx RM28. I have to say Hongkees have big and fast appetite! As I was recovering from the awesome Polo Bun and managed to sip 1/4 of my coffee, 2-3 customers have already finished theirs and left! Total bill came up to HKD88 (approx RM45). Fast service and polite staff, thumbs up for great Polo Bun!

Looking at the queue at 11am tells you how popular this place is in Hong Kong. Yes, it's the infamous Australia Dairy Co. Known for its signature Toast, Scrambled Egg & Steamed Milk Pudding dessert. Table sharing is a common practice in Hong Kong, so don't be surprised.
All their menu is in Chinese, for bananas like me, just ask them for the English menu. Don't forget to order the toast (Sai To Si), scrambled egg and their Macaroni Soup. People in Hong Kong seem to chow down food like breathing air, witnessed two ladies finishing entire meal within 5 minutes! Food is served so fast and if you can't catch up, you'll end up having a table full! I'd do the Malaysian style dining anytime, so I won't get indigestion! Tried the steamed milk pudding, but tad sweet for my liking. Macau's version is much better! Stay tuned for my post in Part 2. :)
Signature Macaroni soup with Ham. Not bad to warm up for the morning!

After our trip from The Peak Tram, we made our way by foot to Yat Lok Restaurant, 1 Michelin Star Restaurant for the best Roast Goose at affordable price. Seriously, shoot yourself if you didn't have this in Hong Kong.
Again, nothing spells Yat Lok. Everything in Chinese :( With all PRC workers, just a heads up on their table manners - pretty rude and impatient.
Don't care, kena marah I pun OK. What can I say? Crispy yummy skin with tender, perfectly cooked marinated meat. Just forget the cholesterol and calories for a day, and indulge all you can in this super awesome place! Ordered my sinful portion of Roasted Goose and BBQ Char Siew with noodle soup (Wantan noodles). #sosedap If you got sick of noodles, you can opt for rice but the price is higher than noodles. This will cost you HKD47 (Approx RM25).

After reading review on Mak's Noodles, we've decided to give it a go. Tried this at Jordan, right after a full meal at Australia Dairy Co. For some, portion may be too small. But for Aud, this was just perfect. In terms of price, it may be pricey for travelers on budget.
Was recommended by a fellow foodie to try the noodle with shrimp roe. Yes, that powder speck/herb sprinkle is in fact shrimp roe. Black sauce on the right is oyster sauce. Mix it together and savor every bite. Liked that every bite came with itsy bitty crunch from noodle and shrimp roe.
Dumpling soup with 1001 fillings like Pork, prawn, vege, mushroom and the list goes on. Don't worry, their menu is also available in English. Total bill for these two dish came up to HKD84 (Close to RM45). Staff were very kind and friendly, make sure you try this.

Egg tart earned it's popularity in Hong Kong for its buttery tart crust and wobbly hot yummy custard. It's available at almost everywhere, for HKD8-10. Give it a go and I swear that one tart will not be your last.
There are so many places to pig out and indulge but this is what I had in two days in HK. Till next post, xoxo!
