Technology has come a long way. From home phone to mobile gadgets, from Telekom to Free WhatsApp call and now multi cooker replacing just one-function kitchen appliance. It's amazing to see how one cooker does 6-7 functions these days. I bagged this bad boy during the recent #MYCYBERSALES, with just RM200 instead of close to RM300. Good ey?
Conventional ovens can do wonders but you still run risk of overcooking your cake/food if you're just too busy Facebooking or playing Hay Day. :D Good thing about rice cooker is that you'd just need to hit one or two buttons and let it work. Plus, it beeps once your food is made.
Since this is my first baking attempt, I cheated with pre-mix cake from the shelves.
1) Butter Cake
Simple ingredients - Milk, margarine, eggs & pre-mix. (I'd suggest you go for butter as my cake came out super crumbly and substitute with full cream milk for a sinful taste.)
Step 1: Prepare ingredients
Step 2: Spread margarine (or butter) evenly on pan.
Since I bought a low fat margarine, I kinda went a lil over for this step.
Step 3: Prepare a mixing bowl for the 'mix-up'.
Step 4: Mixing process. Just follow the simple instruction on the box and then pour batter into cake pan.
Step 5: Leave to bake in the rice cooker for 90 minutes (cake function) and let it rise. Outcome? Resembled a steamed cake (You don't get the sexy golden brown topping like an oven would).
Instructions from rice cooker says to take it out to cool down, otherwise moisture will seep into your cake.
Haha, golden brown sides. It says to poke top with finger and if it bounces back, your cake is ready. :)
A slice of the butter cake. Slight crumbly but edible still. I skipped the icing topping. Goes well with a cup of tea. :)
Enjoy & hope you'll love baking too! XOXO
